Nairobi court charges Steven John Waiswa in Sh223 million gold fraud case

Steven John Waiswa, a gold suspect, has been charged with conspiracy to defraud a company of over Sh 223M.
He has been charged that on March 31, 2024, and May 30, 2024, at Nairobi City County within the Republic of Kenya, jointly with others before the court,

he conspired to commit a felony, namely, stealing a sum of $1,271,200.74 US dollars, equivalent to approximately Sh 223,756,000, from Tanner Caldwell Cook by falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell him 2820 kg of gold, knowing it was untrue.

Waiswa was also charged in another court with obtaining money by false pretences contrary to Section 313 of the penal code.
The court was informed that on diverse dates between March 31, 2024, and May 30, 2024, at Nairobi City County, you, jointly with others not before the court,

obtained 1,271,200.74 US dollars, equivalent to approximately Sh 223,756,000, from Tanner Caldwell Cook by falsely pretending that you were in a position to sell to him 2820 kg of gold, knowing it was untrue.
